Raf Van Severen before the gallery at the Godefriduskaai

Galerie Raf Van Severen specializes in Fine Art, period 1870-1970. For figurative art, the gallery lays its focus on Belgian paintings, from luminism of Emile Claus and fauvism of Rik Wouters, to the Flemish expressionists. Built on a strong passion and the constant aim for quality, it’s been possible to gather unique collections over the years.

For the abstract collection, the gallery broadened its scope to American and European artists. This encompasses art movements as abstraction lyrique, abstract expressionism, and geometric abstraction. In June 2018, a new gallery opened on the ‘Eilandje’ next to Museum Aan de Stroom. This new step made it possible to give the bigger abstract works the presentation they deserve.

Since 2020, Galerie Raf Van Severen has been giving upcoming artists an opportunity to show their work. Virtual Vitrine initially organized online exhibitions but later also pop-up Expo’s in the gallery. Laurenz Coninx is one of the young artists who’s done a solo exhibition.
