Gaston Pauwels

Gaston Pauwels (Ghent °1897 - Ghent °1983) was a painter, draughtsman and graphic artist whose subjects of preference were figures, landscapes and still lifes. Educated in his hometown Ghent where he studied under J. Delvin and G. Minne, Pauwels went on to win Second Place at the 1922 Prix de Rome, followed by the Prix J. Pipyn in 1929, and later the Prix Deglumes in 1972. Works of his can be found in the museums of Ghent and Calais.
