Hubert Malfait (Astene °1898 - Sint-Martens-Latem °1971) was a Belgian painter who received education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. Inspired by the friends of his father, Emile Claus and Valerius de Saedeleer, Hubert had some of the best teachers. A short time later, he joined the expressionist movement around Gust De Smet and Constant Permeke. Yet he was seen as the new generation of the belgian expressionism and became the prominent figure of the third school of Latem.
