Maurice Wyckaert
Info
Maurice Wyckaert (Brussels °1923 - Brussels °1996) was a Belgian painter who received education at the "Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts" in Brussels. In his early period Wyckaert already used a lot of color, contrary to the Flemish expressionists at the time. Large forms with bright colours will be a trend throughout his carreer. In his second period his paintings often represented a scene from birdsview, such as the painting above. Wyckaert created a lot of atmosphere in his work allowing the different forms to flourish exuberantly. As a born and raised Brusseloix, Wyckaert was appointed to decorate the metro station Jacques Brel. He also had several friends at Cobra with whom he organized exhibitions.
