Théo Bitter
Info
Théo Bitter (Den Haag, 1916 - Den Haag, 1994) was a Dutch artist who had education at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. He is mostly known for his naive realist style at the end of WWII. Typical for naive realism is that it creates an atmosphere full of fantasy and simplicity. The many colorful subjects in the painting are all in harmony and give us an emotionally resonant depiction of reality. Though emerging from a dark period in history, the bright use of colors in these paintings are symbolic of new hope. Concerning the subjects of his work, Bitter painted a lot of family portraits.
