Victor Noël (Dour °1916 - ? °2006) was a painter, gouache artist, draughtsman, engraver and tapissier. Educated at the Académie of Mons, Victor began his career painting relatively traditional subjects in a classical style, only to emerge in the early 1950s as one of the forerunners of Belgian geometrical abstraction. His refined palette showed a self-assured sobriety as well as a mastery of form and symbolism. A professor at the Académie of Tournai from 1942 to 1976, Victor was part of many artistic groups such as Formes*, Géoforme, D4 and Art Concret en Hainaut. After his retirement, Victor moved to Ham-sur-Heure.
