The present work is listed under no. 2064 in the catalogue raisonné, which was begun in 1980 and completed under the artist's supervision by Frédéric Charron.
"Lampe baladeuse", an expressive composition with a graphically ornate subject on a cobalt blue background, was created shortly before Pierre Alechinsky became professor of painting at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
